Feel all your feelings. Think clearly. Act with confidence.

For information on the types of therapeutic approaches I use [see tool box]; for a sense of my philosophical approach and my professional affiliations [see about Liz]. For more detail about issues {see issues].

Individual and Couples Therapy

Our first meeting will last for 11/2 hours which is usually enough time to complete a full assessment of your current situation, take a family history and identify what steps you may have already taken to try to resolve your difficulty. After I have some understanding of your situation we will decide if we are going to work together.

If you become my client we will usually book six appointments over a two month period while you are engaged and motivated. These appointments do not need to be paid for in advance and can be cancelled with advance notice [see cancellation policy]. The purpose is to provide continuity of care and to allow me to manage my practice efficiently.

A goal setting assignment will be given to you at the end of first session and during our second meeting we will work together to set achievable, measurable goals, discuss issues of support and formulate a therapeutic plan.[see toolbox] We will review your progress at regular intervals. [see FAQ for costs]

Phone Sessions

Phone sessions are available for clients who wish to touch base between session, who are out of town or unable to come to my office. These sessions may be booked in 15 minute increments and are charged at my usual hourly rate. [see FAQ for costs].The client is responsible for any long distance phone charges.

Consultation with other professionals and report writing

It may be beneficial to some clients for me to consult with previous therapists, current medical professionals or other referral sources. At times clients may require a written report for their insurance company. A regular hourly fee is charged for any of these services.

Group Therapy

Core Recovery is an on going therapy group which provides a safe place to work on old issues and to practice new behaviours with other people. Groups can provide a type of healing which is unavailable in individual sessions as you work with feed back and encouragement from peers to change your life.[see group brochure]

Wednesday Workshops

Come to a Wednesday evening workshop to check out learning in a group setting. These workshops will help you identify patterns of behaviour and provide simple tools to help change your behaviour. As always, you will have the right to pass on any participation that you choose to decline. [See up coming events and FAQ for costs]

Saturday Intensives

These day long personal growth workshops will be held each Saturday following a Wednesday Workshop. We will identify and begin the process of removing blocks to living a brilliant life [see why a brilliant life?]and FAQ for fees]

You may be interested if you:

  • have previous group experience and have a specific “piece of work” you want to do in a group setting
  • want to “check out” group therapy to see if it is a therapeutic approach that could work for you. [see upcoming events]
  • need a safe place to continue addressing issues you identified during a Wednesday Workshop.
